Because We Try

This year has certainly been life changing for all of us. There has been a lot of changes that have had to be made. Adjustments in our daily lives and in our family and personal lives. It is our hope that while these are diffcult times, that we are finding our way through, one day at a time.

With those changes and adjustments, has been a change to our student’s education. Most students have been learning at home through the use of technology are packets that have been sent home. We know that this is not the norm for our students. No doubt, it has been hard at times for parents to help with the lessons and to make sure that the learning has continued. While parents have been doing a remarkable job at this task, we understand that this might not come natural. We also know that it is quite different than the daily school life our students are used to. This has probably at times made it hard for them to be able to complete their work.

Through all of the difficulties though, we, you, they, have prevailed and still are prevailing. We applaud you, parents, for your diligence and effort in assisting your children with their school work. Students, we applaud you for hanging in there and making this huge adjustment in your daily routine. Educators, we applaud you for rising to the occasion and tirelessly working from home to provide not only lessons for your students but maybe for your own kids as well.

At ABBIT, we applaud you all for your hard work and dedication through this most difficult time. We have always believed and will continue to believe that we can accomplish anything because we try.

The new year is moving right along and so is ABBIT!

The ABBIT Society has re-launched and we have been working hard behind the scenes to make sure we are truly supporting schools and our students. The support has been wonderful and we truly thank you and ask that you keep the support coming as we continue to foresee nothing but growth and great things for 2020.

If you are an elementary school, you may be wondering how could you use ABBIT to motivate your students? Well, there are several ways, it truly is adaptable for your school. But, we realize that some are refamiliarizing themselves with ABBIT while others might not know about ABBIT at all. We are here to help.

In upcoming posts, we will be sharing some examples of how ABBIT can be used and utilized in your school. We will start right at the basics to get you more acquainted with ABBIT, ways you can start to implement ABBIT, possible products to use and how to encourage your parents and community to support your efforts.

Restarting a program at your school or implementing a new one can be hard, but rest assured ABBIT is a program for your students that is easy to use and most of all, designed to motivate and promote good work habits within your students.

We hope this new post series will be of benefit and help you to design and implement your ABBIT plan specifically for your students.

Have ways or suggestions on how someone could use ABBIT? Have something about ABBIT you want to learn more about? Post them in the comments below.

ABBIT Relaunch

It’s a new year and we are so excited. As you may have noticed we have been busy and are still busy at work putting things together for ABBIT to relaunch this year. ABBIT will relaunch this year and continue its mission to motivate and reward students.

Our relaunch will be right back in Marshall, Texas. This is definitely exciting because Marshall is where the idea originally started back in 1986. Back in 1986, an educator saw that there was a need to help motivate students. Students were struggling with the “want” to do their work.  That educator felt that just like we as adults need a little motivation, students are no different. Students need motivation and to be recognized and rewarded for the school work efforts.

From that idea, the motto “A’s and B’s Because I try” or ABBIT was born. ABBIT went on to be a staple not only in Marshall but in several other communities throughout the United States. It was truly a gem because it was the only National Honor Roll for Elementary Students that ALL students could truly be in.

Over 30 years later and the need to motivate and recognize our students remains the same. It is probably even more necessary today that we show our students that good grades matter, that effort and growth matter. Developing this early in an elementary school student’s life can definitely set up a path for success for years to come.

As we relaunch our mission this year, community support has always been foundational to us. From the schools helping instill that desire and motivation to the students, to the parent and family members encouraging their student to keep up the good work, to the local businesses that support ABBIT by helping reward the students, we ALL play a part.

As ABBIT continues its mission, it is our deep hope that schools, families and community support will be with us every step of the way as we move to motivate and reward a whole new generation of students.
